San Juan, Puerto Rico - Como parte de los acuerdos colaborativos con la Universidad de Puerto Rico Recinto de Mayag\u00fcez y la Puerto Rico Agricultural Biotechnology Industry Association (PRABIA), los estudiantes cursando su \u00faltimo a\u00f1o acad\u00e9mico, tuvieron la oportunidad de hacer su pr\u00e1ctica de verano en empresas dedicadas a la biotecnolog\u00eda agr\u00edcola. Acerca de PRABIA<\/p>\n
Fundada en 1995, la Puerto Rico Agricultural Biotechnology Industry Association, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s, PRABIA, es una organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro que re\u00fane a las empresas de biotecnolog\u00eda agr\u00edcola que operan en Puerto Rico \u2013 AgReliant Genetics, Bayer, Dow AgroSciences, Syngenta, Illinois Crop Improvement, Monsanto del Caribe y DuPont Pioneer. La Asociaci\u00f3n tiene como objetivo fortalecer el ecosistema de biotecnolog\u00eda agr\u00edcola en la Isla a la luz de los retos de producci\u00f3n global de alimentos. Las operaciones de las empresas que forman parte de PRABIA promueven el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico al generar sobre 5,000 empleos directos e indirectos, fomenta la educaci\u00f3n, apoya las comunidades, brinda respaldo a la comunidad acad\u00e9mica y establece programas dirigidos a los futuros cient\u00edficos y agr\u00f3nomos.<\/p>\n
