Jim\u00e9nez Cruz expres\u00f3: \u201cLas mujeres son el 45% de la fuerza laboral y son jefas de m\u00e1s de 160 mil familias de Puerto Rico. Con estas cifras, es irrefutable que son pieza clave para el fortalecimiento econ\u00f3mico del pa\u00eds. Por esta raz\u00f3n, nos enorgullece que la agronom\u00eda sea una profesi\u00f3n inclusiva, pues con la participaci\u00f3n equitativa de hombres y mujeres en la agricultura todos ganamos\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Durante el evento, que incluy\u00f3 una conferencia de la pasada secretaria del Departamento de Agricultura, Dra. Myrna Comas, se distingui\u00f3 la contribuci\u00f3n de varias agr\u00f3nomas. Entre las reconocidas estaban la agr\u00f3noma Sol Rosado, Vice Presidenta de la Puerto Rico Agricultural Biotechnology Industry Association (PRABIA) y Especialista de Investigaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo en la empresa Bayer. Rosado se ha destacado por su liderazgo y compromiso en la educaci\u00f3n y en la comunidad. La agr\u00f3noma. Amaris R\u00edos, reconocida por tener a su cargo a los estudiantes de educaci\u00f3n especial en la Escuela Vocacional Agr\u00edcola de Bucarabones, en Toa Alta. Tambi\u00e9n se reconoci\u00f3 la labor educativa que, por m\u00e1s de 19 a\u00f1os, ha realizado la agr\u00f3noma Marisela Carbonell, presidenta de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Maestros de Educaci\u00f3n Agr\u00edcola. A los reconocimientos del CAPR se unieron las respectivas felicitaciones del Senado y la C\u00e1mara de Representantes de Puerto Rico, as\u00ed como del Departamento de Agricultura.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Como invitada especial del presidente del CAPR, particip\u00f3 de la actividad la joven Abigail D\u00e1vila acompa\u00f1ada de su maestra de agricultura, la agr\u00f3noma Arlene Torres Garc\u00eda. \u201cHace unas semanas, cuando visit\u00e9 la Escuela Vocacional Carlos F. Daniels en Carolina conoc\u00ed a una joven de 16 a\u00f1os que me dijo \u2018Soy Abigail y quiero ser agr\u00f3noma\u2019. With these figures, it is irrefutable that they are a key piece for the economic strengthening of the country. For this reason, we are proud that agronomy is an inclusive profession, because with the equal participation of men and women in agriculture we all win\u201d.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>During the event, which included a conference by the former Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Dr. Myrna Comas, the contribution of several agronomists was distinguished. Among those recognized were agronomist Sol Rosado, Vice President of the Puerto Rico Agricultural Biotechnology Industry Association (PRABIA) and Research and Development Specialist at Bayer. Rosado has stood out for her leadership and commitment in education and in the community. The agronomist. Amaris R\u00edos, recognized for being in charge of special education students at the Bucarabones Agricultural Vocational School, in Toa Alta. The educational work that, for more than 19 years, has been carried out by the agronomist Marisela Carbonell, president of the Association of Agricultural Education Teachers, was also recognized. The CAPR's acknowledgments were joined by the respective congratulations from the Senate and House of Representatives of Puerto Rico, as well as from the Department of Agriculture.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>As a special guest of the president of the CAPR, the young Abigail D\u00e1vila participated in the activity accompanied by her agriculture teacher, the agronomist Arlene Torres Garc\u00eda. \u201cA few weeks ago, when I visited the Carlos F. Daniels Vocational School in Carolina, I met a 16-year-old girl who told me, 'I'm Abigail and I want to be an agronomist.'
